ARSENIE. VIAȚA DE APOI

„Following the vérité legacy of Jean Rouch, among others, documentary filmmakers increasingly make the very filmmaking their focus of analysis and engagement (Arsenie. An Amazing Afterlife, The Other Profile, Dancing on the Edge of a Volcano). Such experiments allow for novel, performative approaches which explore coexisting, plural takes on the world as well as prompt the audience to reflect on the multitudes of filming possibilities and ways of transforming reality into images.”

The film will be screened as part of the „Signed” section, which includes „The latest films by the most interesting contemporary filmmakers whose filmographies we highly appreciate, and for whose work we wait with excitement.”

The film was screened as part of the Time of History section, which includes „proposals that reformulate the postulates of the documentary being on the border between reality and fiction. An exploration of the possibilities of the genre that embrace different and audacious aesthetic approaches based on archival materials, live films and reconstruction of past events.”

Festivalul de Film și Istorii de la Râșnov (FFIR) a apărut în anul 2009 din dorința valorificării unui capitol important al cinematografiei locale și mondiale, dar și din nevoia de a produce în spațiul public românesc discuții despre teme al căror impact temporal depășeste efemeritatea clipei.

„E rar să vezi cum o mulțime de zeci de oameni așteaptă să intre la un film documentar și cum, după umplerea sălii de cinema, inclusiv a locurilor de jos, de pe trepte, încă rămân bună parte din ei pe dinafară. Însă exact asta s-a întâmplat marți, când a fost proiectat “Arsenie. Viața de apoi”, cel mai recent documentar al lui Alexandru Solomon.”

„Arsenie. Viața de apoi” a fost prezentat pe 12 august la Cinema Ateneu din Iași, în cadrul Serilor Filmului Românesc.

„Cinematograful Victioria a fost plin la filmul „Arsenie. Viaţa de apoi”, care a rulat în cadrul festivalului Ceau, Cinema! În public au fost și oamenii care cred în cultul lui Arsenie Boca, dar și spectatori pentru care efectiv nu le spune nimic existanța călugărului, pentru care filmul a fost cumva o tragi-comedie. The international premiere took place in the KVIFF, in the Proxima Competition. In the words of Lenka Tyrpakova - one of the programmers of the festival - „the great thing about the film is that it isn't at all local, through the testimonies of the protagonists we learn so much about the current world, about how the media manipulates information”. Filmul a avut avanpremiera națională la TIFF. A doua zi, festivalul a programat o discuție intitulată „Ora de religie”, pornind de la filmele „Soțul meu musulman” și „Arsenie. Viața de apoi”, dezbatere moderată de Mihnea Măruță. Bogdan-Andrei Lungu scria în Aperitiff că „Solomon tratează cu respect acești credincioși, dar la final concede faptul că un răspuns final despre fascinația față de Arsenie Boca nu poate fi găsit. Poate că răspunsul este de găsit, doar că acesta este, de fapt, greu de acceptat.”
